Hi all -
Some quick notes and highlights from the Board meeting 8/25/08:

1. The songs we will be singing for the Holiday concert can be found on our Repertoire Page.
2. We will be recording the Holiday CD on Sunday afternoon November 16, probably from about 1pm until 7pm (we'll order food!).
3. Fees for the Holiday season are: Dues $112 + $30 music fee (total $142). I'll be providing more details on how to pay (in next week's message).
4. Beth has signed on for another year as Conductor (Hooray!).
5. Mike Shaughnessy was at the meeting, and presented us with a $7000 check from the LA Country Arts Commisssion. Thanks to Mike for adjusting our two-year grant to meet our current circumstances!
6. Chamber auditions will be on September 22, using one of the pieces planned for the Holiday concert.
7. We discussed the possibility of change board members term of office to be from July 1 through June 30 (now it's Jan 1 through Dec 31). Generally accepted as a good idea, but will require a bylaws update.
8. The cost for the audio CDs from the Spring concert will $5. This covers the production cost. They will be available at the first rehearsal on Sept 8. The DVDs will also be available ($10 each) for those of you who haven't already picked yours up.

I also wanted to thank Mary Ling for putting us in touch with Patrick Wade and the Glendale Symphony. The mini-concerts went well (but the attendance was not what GSO was hoping for). We are discussing ongoing collaborations for the future.

I'll be sending out additional details on the Holiday season plans prior to our first rehearsal. I also will be providing instructions on how to submit your payments for dues, CDs, DVDs, Carnegie, etc.
